On Sept 11, 2001, James Parker, then CEO of South west Airlines, confronted a difficult circumstance when the government ordered them to ground all their entire fleet and close. Although, all the other U. T. airlines were faced with the same challenging situation, South west Airlines remained positive and succeeded through the crisis. The fantastic leadership that was exemplified by South west leaders led them to be able to handle the crisis better than other air carriers. Southwest Air carriers was able to keep their passengers, flight family and friends, pilots, and ground deck hands satisfied through the crisis, which will led these to become a better airline. Adam Parker's management style which usually greatly influenced the success of Southwest Airlines shows many aspects present in the contingency model. The leadership strategies applied by James Parker were considerably influenced by situation South west Airlines was facing. By staying staff and consumer focused, Adam Parker, was able to be successful throughout the difficult scenario. The author of Leadership in Organizations, Whilst gary Yukl, mentions that a leader's influence and effectiveness can be altered by simply aspects of the leadership circumstance, which is referred to in contingency theories (Yukl, 2013, s. 163). David Parker was effective and successful inside the leadership scenario that this individual found himself in. South west Airlines was greatly influenced by Parker's leadership design and the contingency theory can be well showed by his example.

The great leadership that was exemplified by South west leaders led them to have the ability to handle the crisis better and keep most of its personnel unlike different airlines. In case study, Wayne Parker had no electrical power over the government's decision to shut down, but he performed have control over Southwest Air carriers.
