Anti-Transcendentalism in the Work of Edgar Allan Poe
Life and death are concepts which can be widely known by men and women of cultures. A large number of pieces of literary works are written about these subject areas since they are well-known but not everybody understands the meaning of living and about to die. Death appears to be the more challenging of these two concepts to be discussed. This can be most likely because once a person dies they can be gone forever. While many persons can say they have experienced existence to the maximum, not many, or any at all, can say that they have skilled death and lived to talk about that experience. As a result, literary authors use metaphors and personification to bring all their readers closer to understanding fatality and existence. Transcendentalism started to be a philosophical movement in the 1820s and 1830s that suggested a belief that spirituality was greater than a standard human knowledge, such as living life without the need pertaining to materialistic things, therefore that great full form of what existence has to offer. Although authors and poets grasped this philosophy, such as Henry David Thoreau, other literary figures disliked the transcendental movement and wrote all their work against its standpoint. Edgar Allan Poe established fact for horrifying the topic of fatality in most of his literary works. Poe had a great using the fear of death and relating this to the effect it had within the human heart. He used the experiences in the life being a precursor to his short stories and poems. Edgar Allen Poe's experience with condition and loss of life, expressed in the literary operate, contributed to his stance while an anti-transcendentalist.
Edgar Allan Poe was born to two stage stars, David Poe Jr. and Elizabeth Arnold Poe, in January 19, 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts. Even in his early life, Poe confronted a difficult life. After his father forgotten him, fantastic mother dying shortly after, a rich merchant by the name of David Allan, wonderful wife, followed Poe. With his new adoptive parents, he left the States occupied Scotland and London intended for five years. Poe joined private colleges as a child where he was gifted in books. As a stepping-stone to change his life, Poe enlisted in the army, in which he published his first book of beautifully constructed wording. Poe started to write a growing number of works of literature through his young adult years. However , despite the fact that his poems and short stories were becoming popular, Poe had a difficult time earning a living through like a writer. Absence of financial assistance caused him to move within his cousin, and niece, Virginia Clemm, who he soon after committed. Through the years of 1837 and 1845, Edgar Allan Poe became a proper renowned author and poet, publishing many poems and short tales. However , following the death of his better half, Virginia, in 1847, as a result of tuberculosis, Poe's health as well became to depreciate from his continuous use of alcoholic beverages. Soon after, Poe died a mysterious fatality, which many speculate to become because of his excessive irresponsible drinking.
